Another un-fur-gettable trip to NY!

Performing Arts Fort Worth Director of Programming, Communications & Sales Jason Wise just returned from New York, where he and other PAFW staffers caught Broadway’s latest and greatest shows. Here he is with a recap!

We’ve returned from yet another fun excursion to New York, where we met with Broadway League representatives and saw several of the hot new shows on Broadway, many of which we’re hoping to bring to Bass Hall in upcoming Broadway at the Bass seasons.

Among the shows we saw was a brand-new revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats. Fans of this wildly popular musical won’t be disappointed in this remake. It features many of the original Tony-winning sets and costumes. I have a feeling it’ll be on our stage sometime in the near future!

One of the most exciting new musicals on Broadway this year is Dear Evan Hansen. It’s the best thing I’ve seen in a long time!

The show was directed by Michael Greif, whose credits include Rent and Next to Normal. Fans of those two shows will surely love this emotionally-charged and beautiful story about the struggles of fitting in.

The show also features the handiwork of songwriting team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who have worked on, among other film and stage productions, Smash and the new film La La Land.

During our whirlwind trip, we also caught the hilarious newspaper romp The Front Page with Nathan Lane, John Slattery and John Goodman, the laughathon Oh, Hello and the fun new Irving Berlin musical Holiday Inn.

Just a reminder that you can experience Broadway right here in Fort Worth with our Broadway at the Bass series. The 2017 lineup is incredible, with titles such as Annie, An American in Paris, Matilda, Let It Be, The Bodyguard, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, the 20th anniversary tour of Rent and the return of White Christmas.

We hope you’ll join us for this terrific season. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
