We spent our last few days in New York playing catch-me-if-you-can with all the new shows Broadway has to offer this season.
Among them was GHOST THE MUSICAL, which we really enjoyed. Visually, it’s the most stunning production we’ve seen on stage. The special effects were outstanding. By the reaction of the crowd, this should be a solid show for the road.
We also caught NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT – a really good, fun show. Starring Matthew Broderick and Kelli O’Hara, NICE WORK is a new musical that’s a throwback to the big traditional Broadway musicals of the past. Will make a great road show.
We saved the `Best’ for last – THE BEST MAN, that is. This is a great political play set primarily at a brokered convention in Philadelphia in 1960. During the current election year, this is a very timely play.
And talk about a star-studded cast: James Earl Jones, John Larroquette, Candice Bergen, Eric McCormack, Kerry Butler, Jefferson Mays, Michael McKean and Angela Lansbury. This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see all of these actors on one stage together!
THE BEST MAN was a great way to end our trip to The Broadway League’s 2012 Spring Road Conference. See you all back in Fort Worth!
